- You will have to identify who is listening.
- You will explain what is happening in the play when the lines are spoken.
- You will explain the quote's dramatic purpose. Or explain why the quote is important in the play.
- Does it reveal character traits?
- Does it develop the plot? Does it move the plot forward?
- Does it reveal a theme?
- Does it create humour (comic relief)?
- Does it develop conflict?
Example:

Hippolyta is listening.
Theseus is feeling impatient as he waits for his wedding day.
This quote develops the theme of love because he loves Hippolyta so much and can't wait to be married to her.
