After a week of working and preparing your poetry anthologies (which are DUE on May 22), we're ready to start literature circles! Yay! Reading novels!!

Today I briefly discussed the various literature circle roles. These include:
- The Discussion Director - in charge of coming up with "thick" questions for discussion. (Think beyond yes/no answers).
- The Visualizer - in charge of drawing a picture or a collage of important parts of the novel.
- The Connector - in charge of coming up with connections. Text to Text; Text to Self; Text to World.
- The Summarizer - in charge of summarizing the assigned section of the novel.
- The Passage Picker - in charge of picking three important passages of text from the novel.
As practice, you are to read the shory story "After the Sirens" and prepare your assigned role. SInce the OSSLT is tomorrow (May 14) you'll need to have your role prepared for Wednesday M
