Learning Goal:
Students will watch their first TED talk.
Students will make connections between the TED talk and what we've already discussed in class.
Students will use visualization.
Today we watched Kid President's "Pep Talk" video. You were asked to make connections between what we've already discussed in class (Tomorrow's Students, Signposts on the Journey, and Over the Edge) and this video. Post a comment below to share what you think the connections are!
We also reviewed Visualization and how to use it while reading an article. We read the short story "Not Ever Again," which is about a young girl named Sonia who saves her dog from drowning after he falls into an icy lake.
We discussed whether it was courageous or foolish to risk your own life to save the life of your pet. After reading the article, we discussed whether our opinions had changed.
Finally, you worked on your opinion paragraph. This paragraph is due THURSDAY FEBRUARY 14!
You must hand in:
A good copy
A rough copy
The paragraph outline
The marking scheme
