Learning Goals:
Students will come up with criteria to evaluate TED Talks.
Students will use the criteria to evaluate a TED Talk.
Today we created a rubric to evaluate TED Talks. You did this with a partner and were given the following criteria:
- Emotional Response
- Relevance & Connection to ME!
- Overall Message and/or argument
- Presentation Skills
I have attached the rubric/scale that we created.
After we created the rubric we evaluated the Kid President Ted Talk.
For Emotional Response Kid President scored an 8.5 because he was not motivating us to a specific cause or action plan. For Relevance & Connection to me, Kid President scored another 8.5 because he made it very easy to connect to his topic and he made it easy to understand. In addition, he uses real life examples, like Michael Jordan. For Overall Message/Argument, he scored a 2 because he did not make any points that were debatable and I did not learn anything new. Finally for Presenation Skills, Kid President scored a 10. He is confident, passionate and he supports his argument with a slick video and various media, like music and graphics/text.
I have attached the rubric we created below.
