An anecdote is defined as "a short account of a particular incident or event, especially of an interesting or amusing nature."
Learning Goal:
Students will respond to an alternate opinion about teenagers.
Students will learn how to construct an opinion paragraph.
Today we read the anecdote "Signposts on the Journey." In it, a father relates how his seemingly lazy and uninterested sixteen-year old son stands up for a peer who is being bullied. We discussed in class how this is different and/or the same to the article "Tomorrow's Students."
We then reviewed how to write an opinion paragraph. You were responsible for completing the paragraph outline. Your topic sentence was whether you agreed or disagreed with either the author of "Tomorrow's Students" or the author of "Signposts on the Journey."
Below you can find a file that has the paragraph outline that we learned in class.
