We discussed various reasons why the people of Iceland would write a myth about the sea being salty. These reasons included:
- they are a nation surrounded by the sea
- they depend upon the sea for their livelihood
- they have been invaded by various cultures over the years, including the Vikings (hence the fierce warriors in the myth)
- they are a largely peaceful and isolated country that doesn't experience much conflict (hence the peaceful country that King Frodi rules over)
For homework, you were asked to read the story, "Water, Moon, and Sun" and answer the same questions. In addition, and most importantly, you were asked to create a comic strip that summarizes the main points of the myth into five or six elements.
